Basic Vans (busjes)A van (or 'busjes' to our Dutch friends) from 1984-1991 is sometimes a better choice then a campervan for your upcoming tour of Australia. The is because campervans are so popular, that the good ones are rare and therefore more expensive to buy putting them outside the budget of a backpacker.

Basic Vans are a great alternative for backpackers, who are prepared to compromise a few creature comforts for a relaible working vehicle. Basic Vans have previously been used around the city for commercial purposes, and therefore aren't as tired as campervans from long hard journey's around Australia. This in general means you get a better 'working quality' vehicle.

Van Sales in AustraliaYou always have many alternatives with a van. A van can be great for up to 6 or 7 mates to travel around in, having a party all along the East Coast.

If its only 2 or 3 people travelling, you can always pull out the back seats (if there is any to start with), throw in a $50 foam mattress, and you've got a set of wheels that is going to save you $$$ on accommodation.

Or, if you want to spend a little extra, we can build inside the van for you, a customcamper kit which provides you with a bed, storage space, curtains, kitchenette with shelves, pump tap sink, gas cooker and many many more.

Building a VanThis is what's known as the Slap n Tickle Deluxe Van. These vans have all the creature comforts of a campervan but without the price tag.

We always stock a wide range of vans, (or 'busjes' to the Dutchies) all good enough for sightseeing Australia. We can provide them as is, or can transform them according to your desires.

PRICES:

The price range is generally between $4,000 and $8,000. We deal in a range of makes and models that include:

  • Toyota Hi Ace
  • Toyota Lite Ace
  • Toyota Tarago
  • Mitsubishi Urvan
  • Ford Econovan
  • Mazda E2000

Vans make great sense to buy if your are prepared to take your time when cruising. They have smaller engines then the Ford Falcons, but always have great resale especially if they have been fitted out with some camping gear.

EXAMPLE:

A couple travelling for 6 months around Australia buys a Ford Econovan for $5,000.

  • Price of Van: $5,000
  • Third Party Property Insurance: $310
  • Petrol: $500
  • TOTAL: $5,810

Guaranteed Buyback of 40% x $5810 = $2,324

  • ACTUAL COST of the van for 6 months: $3,486
  • Price Per Person = $1743
  • Price Per Person Per Day = $10.01

For only $10 per day, you not only have all the transport that you need for your adventure, but also you can use as accommodation to save. Cheap ha?

AVIOD CHEAP VANS!

We are very shy of cheap vans and refuse to sell these types of vehicle (esp. V.W. Kombi van's 70's era).

NOTE: Vans are not suitable for more than 2 people and you should be planning a slow, unhurried trip. Remember these vans have relatively small engines.
